20 – 22 November
CBPF – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The Center for Advanced Studies of Cosmology (CEAC) attached to the Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas (CBPF) will held a Symposium entitled QUANTUM AND COSMOS.
The problem of merging quantum physics and a geometric theory of gravity is yet unsolved. At a fundamental level, general relativity and quantum theory seem to be contradictory and the theoretical framework of physics is still unaccomplished. However, it is necessary to combine these two ways of thinking into a single, even more fundamental, theoretical paradigm.
This step is also necessary for understanding extreme situations such as near the singularity of Friedmann´s cosmological scenario or the black hole singularity. The workshop will gather researcher to present and discuss new ideas and researches with particular attention to cosmology and to the use of quantum methods to solve also problems related to classical gravity.
